2018 was an exciting year for commercial work. The year finished on a high note; filming with Saatchi & Saatchi for their Pampers Christmas campaign starring Paloma Faith. Highlights also include shooting Citroen DS7 Cross-back idents for Sky Arts as well as shooting the Ministry of Sound commercial for their flagship yearly album, the Annual 2019
‘The Intent 2’ was released in Showcase, Odeon, Cineworld, Vue and independent cinemas nationwide after its premier at The Empire in Leicester Square. On it’s opening weekend it hit number 1 at the box office in London. The Intent 2 was in theatres for a total of 8 weeks and has recieved 5 National Film Award Nominations. I received a rare mention in the Guardian review as Cinematographer: “cinematographer Tom Watts giving even a passing nocturnal insert of a Costcutter a vaguely Hopperish allure” - Mike McCahill, The Guardian.
In 2018 I was headhunted by Sony Music UK to be their in house DoP as part of the Sony Music creative agency, 4th Floor. In the last 6 months I have shot music videos for artists across RCA, Insanity, Relentless, Music for Nations, Syco and Sony Music Commercial group.
My biggest influence in cinematography is drawn from my background in art and design. The Baroque masters, Rembrandt and Caravaggio, as well as the Renaissance master, Titian are my biggest inspirations for lighting and composition. I was mentored in photography lighting techniques by SWPP and MPA fellow, Marko Dutka and have translated this fundamental skill set into the visual language of film. I combine all these aspects to create bold, unique, dramatic and moving work.
